Ryan {Week 14)

Ryan had another fun week last week! He is getting so big! Every day he is more interactive and just as sweet!

Slowly but surely these two will become best friends!

Big smiles! They are the best.

 Hanging out outside

He sat in the bumbo chair for the first time this week! He does pretty good! His head bobbled some but he liked it and he can support himself pretty well.

 Such a big boy!

 Hanging out with mom...

These two still like to play...

 And then cuddle...

The highlight of our week was Cate's birthday party. She had a unicorn!

 Ryan's first unicorn ride :)

I think he is ready for Kita at the ranch!

Eric's homemade fried rice for dinner last night - so good!

Ryan {Week 13}

This past week Ryan has been extra fun with big sweet grins and lots of talking!

Lazy Sunday morning. I went to take a shower and Eric and Ollie fell asleep on the babysitting job!

There is one of his sweet smiles!

Eric went out of town Tuesday and Wednesday night, so we were on our own. This is is fussy time from 5:00-6:00. We were just trying to make it to bath time!

Brother Ollie didn't seem to care about Ryan's problems though.

 Bath time! All better now.

Burrito baby! He does great being swaddled going to sleep. He does usually get his hands out sometime during the night though.

Good morning! He is always so sweet when I get him from his crib in the morning. We undo his swaddle and he does his stretches.

Being a big brother is rough on Ollie.

 Trying out a comb over.

We have some wild and crazy hair.

 Another sweet morning picture.

We still take lots of pictures of Ollie. :)

We missed Dad! Ryan was glad when he came home.

 Playtime - kicking the feet!

Saturday was his cousin Greer's 1st birthday! She had a lady bug themed party. I didn't get very many pictures unfortunately. Happy birthday sweet Greer!

 Party Animal

And one more of Ollie!

 Grabbing things!

And so I don't forget - this week we switched to size 2 diapers.

Ryan is two weeks old!

Yesterday, Ryan turned 2 weeks old! We took some pictures with his trusty german shorthaired pointer and pillow. We need to come up with a name for the little guy! We also went to see Dr. Watkins, his pediatrician, for his two week appointment today. Ryan sure is growing!

Weight: 8 lbs, 14 .5 oz (up from 8 lbs 2.5 oz last Monday!) He is in the 75% percentile.

Height: 21.25 inches long (up from 21 inches at birth) He is in the 90% percentile.

Head Circumference: 36.5 inches - 50% percentile

Clothing: His 0-3 months stuff still is too big. He mostly wears onsies now and a few newborn footy pajama things. It is getting warm though so the short sleeve onsies are mainly what we are wearing.

Health/Diet: Very healthy baby! He is eating like a champ exclusively from his mom! He likes to eat every 3-4 hours, with an occasional extra meal in between.

Sleep: He is pretty routine right now. He eats, then goes to sleep. At night I am able to get him to sleep almost 4 hours before he wakes up to feed. We usually wake up around 12-1 and then 4-5. It is not too bad! He sleeps either in his mamaroo for naps in the living room or in the little bassinette in our bedroom at night. We have not decided when he will move to his crib yet.

So far he has been to Nordstrom Rack and Buy Buy Baby, the doctor, lunch at Torchy's Tacos, dinner at Casa Navarro, and to Texas Health Presbyterian (where he was born). We have been on a couple of walks with Ollie around the neighborhood and he does great!

Ryan Robert Base has arrived!

Well, it has been quite a while since the blog was updated. The birth of our son seems like a fitting time to revive the blog!

Ryan Robert Base was born on April 7, 2014 at 9:12 pm. He weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and was 21 inches long. It was a long day of labor for me and we were so happy when he finally arrived! I am working on writing all the details of the birth so I can remember all the exciting details of the day. The condensed version is that I ended up having a c-section due to his head being face up instead of face down. In the end, Eric and I are just happy that we had a healthy baby boy! The pictures below are from labor up until  he was born. Ryan spent his first night in the NICU because his breathing was faster than normal and he had some stress from the long labor.

This is while the epidural was going and I felt good :)

Eric preparing to go to into the operating room once we found out I was having a c-section. I do not look too pleased myself.

He is here!! Getting all checked out as soon as he arrived.

 Big, healthy boy!

He doesn't look too sure of what is going on! What is this big scary world I am in?! Poor guy!

Getting to hold my little guy for the first time. Such a whirlwind moment.

 The first Base family picture

It was hard to see our baby all strapped up to machines in the NICU. We knew he was in good hands though and was going to be just fine.

After I recovered from surgery, I got to go up and hold him again for a few minutes. It was so hard to leave him that night.

The next morning we went and checked on him and watched the nurse give him his first bath.

I don't think he liked it very much!

Ryan was released from the NICU to us about 4:00 pm on Tuesday afternoon. I am so glad it was not longer than it was. He was doing great on day two and started eating and sleeping like a champ as soon as we got him back. From the moment we saw him, our lives changed forever! My heart was full of love for this little boy who I just met!
