Ryan Robert Base has arrived!

Well, it has been quite a while since the blog was updated. The birth of our son seems like a fitting time to revive the blog!

Ryan Robert Base was born on April 7, 2014 at 9:12 pm. He weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and was 21 inches long. It was a long day of labor for me and we were so happy when he finally arrived! I am working on writing all the details of the birth so I can remember all the exciting details of the day. The condensed version is that I ended up having a c-section due to his head being face up instead of face down. In the end, Eric and I are just happy that we had a healthy baby boy! The pictures below are from labor up until  he was born. Ryan spent his first night in the NICU because his breathing was faster than normal and he had some stress from the long labor.

This is while the epidural was going and I felt good :)

Eric preparing to go to into the operating room once we found out I was having a c-section. I do not look too pleased myself.

He is here!! Getting all checked out as soon as he arrived.

 Big, healthy boy!

He doesn't look too sure of what is going on! What is this big scary world I am in?! Poor guy!

Getting to hold my little guy for the first time. Such a whirlwind moment.

 The first Base family picture

It was hard to see our baby all strapped up to machines in the NICU. We knew he was in good hands though and was going to be just fine.

After I recovered from surgery, I got to go up and hold him again for a few minutes. It was so hard to leave him that night.

The next morning we went and checked on him and watched the nurse give him his first bath.

I don't think he liked it very much!

Ryan was released from the NICU to us about 4:00 pm on Tuesday afternoon. I am so glad it was not longer than it was. He was doing great on day two and started eating and sleeping like a champ as soon as we got him back. From the moment we saw him, our lives changed forever! My heart was full of love for this little boy who I just met!

Baby Greer

In July, we welcomed a new niece into the family! Blair is now a big sister and Eric's sister is now the proud mom of two little girls. Greer is about two months old now so it is time to get these pictures up! Blair is loving being a big sister and Greer is doing great.

Dogs and Blair at the Ranch

It has been forever since we have been up to the ranch. The summer is so busy and so hot, we rarely get up there.  Here are some pics I got off the camera from the last time we were up there sometime late winter/early spring.

A sweet moment with her grandmother.

Ollie is always on the look out.

We gotta get back up there soon! Hopefully we can now that it is a little cooler!

Jenna's ASU Graduation

Grandmother and I also traveled to San Angelo in May to see my cousin Jenna graduate from Angelo State University. I am proud of all my cousins for graduating this year and wish I could have also traveled to Tennessee to see my cousin Avery graduate. Grandmother and I had an eventful drive down full of traffic, bad directions, dying cell phone, and rain. It is a miracle we made it! But we did and we took Jenna out to a celebratory dinner and then Jenna took me out out to Midnight Rodeo in Angelo. It was a fun night! The next morning, we watched Jenna walk across the stage and get her diploma! Congrats Jenna and best of luck in grad school!

My cousin is so pretty :)

Happy birthday Granny!

We celebrated Grandmother's 85th birthday back in April and I wanted to make sure the pictures hit the blog. We took her to Compari's Italian Restaurant and had a very nice dinner celebrating her 85 years!

I love you Granny! :)

State Soccer Champ!

Another catchup post here! Back in May, my youngest cousin Drake and his high school soccer team went to the State 5A Championship for soccer. This was very exciting as this was his senior year and he could not have asked for a better end to it! My grandmother and I traveled down to Roundrock, TX and met up with my aunt to watch the final game.  I have to say this was my first time watching a complete high school soccer game and I am glad I went! It was very exciting!

That's my cousin #7 celebrating making the first goal of the game!

 Nervous mom!

 They won!

 Celebrate!

Congratulations Drake! We are so proud of you and wish you the best of luck! He has just started his freshman year at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX and is playing on their soccer team.
