I haven't posted a recipe on here in a while, not because we haven't been cooking, but because we have been trying to eat pretty healthy and I feel those recipes are just kinda boring to post. This recipe for turkey tacos was really good and easy so I felt like it was worthy of sharing. I would never have thought to use turkey in tacos, but Eric actually suggested it. We always use ground beef. I checked out a new recipe website I have been liking recently, Gina's Skinny Recipes, and found a recipe for turkey tacos. Gina's version is for taco lettuce wraps, but we wanted something more substantial, so we made our tacos with premade taco shells. I also really liked this recipe because you make your own taco seasoning. That's a first for me as well. I usually use the little packets. Anyways, here are your ingredients!
Shout out for Jennie-O turkey! (We represent this line where I work.) I also added fresh garlic and some jalapeños and used the whole bell pepper.
All the seasonings - garlic powder, cumin, salt, chili powder, paprika, and oregano
Brown your meat in a skillet and then add in all your ingredients and let simmer for twenty minutes.
Add whatever toppings you like - lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, guacamole... we played it pretty simple and just added some Monterey jack cheese and served the tacos with a side of black beans.
